Savybės
Antiseptic, anti-caking, anti-seborrhoeic, astringent, circulatory stimulant, diuretic, expectorant, fungicidal, sedative.
Terapinės savybės
Cedarwood oil is very warming, as well as refreshing, toning, calming and uplifting. The balanced nature of the last two properties makes it excellent for treating nervous tension, chronic anxiety, depression and fatigue; it can be added to massage and bath oil blends and steam inhalations, and is also a pleasant room fragrance.
Cedarwood’s regenerative properties make it useful in the treatment of chronic conditions such as arthritis – mix with other suitable oils in a base oil and use as a massage or poultice. It is tonic where there is weakness accompanied by excessive excretions, such as chronic diarrhoea or excessive urination, in which case it is advisable to rub into the abdomen together with the massage oil. Cedar oil can also be used to treat cystitis in combination with sandalwood and used in the bath or shower.
This oil will help to stimulate delayed menstruation and its antiseptic properties also make it a good treatment for leucorrhoea, secretions and venereal infections. Add a few drops to the bath to relieve itching. The healing compress will help prevent rotting wounds, ulcers, including varicose ulcers, and any skin infection when the skin degenerates.
Cedar has a beneficial effect on the mucous membranes, especially in cases of excessive catarrh, and can be used to treat coughs and bronchitis. Use for inhalation or aromatherapy.
The combination of antiseptic and astringent properties means that cedar is a good remedy for oily skin and hair, acne, dandruff and scalp irritations, as well as fungal skin infections such as athlete’s foot. It is also a parasiticide and can be combined with other oils to remove lice and scabies.
Aromaterapijos naudojimo būdai
Acne, oily skin and hair, dandruff, eczema, fungal infections, arthritis, rheumatism, respiratory disorders, cystitis, premenstrual syndrome, menstrual cessation outside of pregnancy, nervous tension, stress-related disorders.
Psichologinis profilis
Cedar is appropriate if you have identity issues or are prone to dreams and fantasies that can become morbid or perverse. This can exacerbate the inability to integrate with the world and can even lead to mental degeneration. Cedar helps to reinforce a sense of identity and encourages interaction with other people.
Puikiai tinka naudoti su:
With essential oils of bergamot, clary sage, cypress, frankincense, jasmine, juniper, neroli, mimosa, oakmoss, rose, rosemary, vetiver, ylang-ylang.
Mūsų saugos patarimai
Due to its alpha-pinene content, we recommend avoiding the oxidation of cedarwood oil by storing it in a dark, airtight container in the fridge. It is recommended to add an antioxidant to preparations containing it.
Įspėjimai
Unlike the oil extracted from Virginia cedars, Atlas cedar oil is not known to induce miscarriages. However, the Aromatherapy Association advises against using this oil during pregnancy. The oil may irritate sensitive skin.
Other species
There are two other species of cedar: the Texas cedar (Juniperus mexicana) and the Virginia cedar (Juniperus virginiana). Although their oils have similar therapeutic properties to Atlas cedar, they can cause skin irritation and sensitivity and are best avoided for aromatherapy.
