A BRIEF HISTORY
1762
THE START OF FAMILY FARMING
The beginning of our family traditions is considered the time when the ancestors of the founders of
Mėta in Lithuania – the Viskupaiciai, began farming in 1762.

ABOLITION OF SERFDOM
1861 m. 19 February Tsar Alexander II signed legal acts – “Manifest” and “Regulations” on February 19, 1861. After that the
land of our ancestors, the Vyskupaiciai, was divided into patrimonies. After the abolition of serfdom, the ancestral land of the Vyskupaičiai people was distributed in a series of plots.

1989
ESTABLISHMENT OF “MĖTA”
In 1989, in the midst of Lithuania’s “Singing Revolution”, Mindaugas Vyskupaitis opens Lithuania’s first
essential oils factory. This marks the birth of “Mėta”.

ESSENTIAL OILS AND EXTRACTS PLANT
An essential oils and extracts plant was constructed in Vaidotai. Mėta eco-friendly and natural products are widely used not only in homes, but also in sanatoriums, rehabilitation centres, spa centres.
2010
THE COMPANY STARTED THE PRODUCTION OF FOOD
Mėta has begun the production of food made from raw organic materials grown in Lithuania: organic
juice, organic canned products, whole grain rye flour, whole grain bakery products, etc.
