INGREDIENTS: Artemisia absinthium extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus Flower Extract, Cymbopogon Winterianus Herb Oil, Eugenol, Geraniol, Citronellol, Limonene, Linallol, Isoeugenol
A mixture of wormwood hydrolate, citronella and clove essential oils masks body odor, and when dried, covers the skin surface with a bitter wormwood hydrolate microfilm, helping to protect against mosquitoes and other annoying insects.
Wormwood hydrolate is obtained by passing water vapor through the aromatic plant wormwood (Artemisia abisinthium L.). All organic substances of the plant, which evaporate during distillation, but are also soluble in water, are not released with the vapor. They remain dissolved in water, therefore, wormwood distillation water is an aromatic hydrolate, containing water-soluble aromatic substances that have different properties that complement the possibilities of using essential oils. The essential oil contained in wormwood hydrolate, which is dominated by terpenoids – oxygen derivatives of terpenes: sabinyl acetate and thujone, acts as gaseous insecticides through the respiratory organs of ticks and other bloodsucking pests. The active ingredient in wormwood hydrolate, the bitter glycoside absinthene, has the properties of internal insecticides.
The body odor masking properties of wormwood hydrosol are supplemented and enhanced by the traditionally used essential oils of citronella and clove.
The main component of clove essential oil, the phenylpropanoid eugenol, belongs to a group of active substances that also have insecticidal effects, and its pungent aroma masks the natural odor of the skin, which usually attracts bloodsuckers.
Citronella essential oil itself has been used continuously as an insect repellent for almost 50 years, but the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency 1997) has not received a single negative review. This long history of use, without negative incidents, and low acute toxicity to mammals indicate that citronella oil does not have a negative impact on the environment.
